Weekly News and Homework


Language Arts: We will learn about and practice writing Y words, sing songs, read books, stamp our new sight words (where, did, so) and practice spelling them every day, write upper and lower case letters, write in our journals, sing about letter sounds, make and learn to read Y books, continue our literacy center rotations, and more!!

Math:  This week we will continue learning about greater numbers.  We will also count by 1s, 5s, and10s to 100, work with our number of the day (Spanish, tally marks, addition and subtraction problems, etc.), and read various graphs. 

Bible: This week we will learn about Zacchaeus and Nicodemus.  We will read Bible stories, sing along with Wee Sing Bible Songs and Wee Sing More Bible Songs, recite, discuss, and illustrate Psalm 100:3a, and pray together every day.   

Science, Social Studies, Art, and Misc: This month’s themes are Dr. Seuss, Read Across America, St. Patrick’s Day, and Spring.  We will also learn about plants and farm animals on our field trip to Wilder Ranch.  We will continue to do our team jobs, attend art class, music class, library, computer lab, and PE, explore the classroom during choice time, and more!!!

No sharing time or centers this Friday (minimum day)

This Week’s Homework:

The following assignments should be completed by Friday:

1.     Phonics page for the letter of the week- Yy

2.     Handwriting page for the letter of the week- Yy

3.     Choose a verse or short poem for the Kindergarten Speech Meet.

4.     2-3 choices from our monthly family activity calendar.

5.     Sight word practice! 

6.     Ten minutes (or more!) of reading every night with a parent, guardian, or older sibling, etc.  I’m sure your child would love to read the book in his or her small manila folder to you!  Sight words are fun to read together, too.  Reading together every night is VERY important.  Let’s work together to develop a love of books and reading in our children!

School library books are due every Wednesday morning.
