Weekly News and Homework

Language Arts: We will learn about and practice writing F words, sing songs about Fall and Freddy the Frog, read many books, recite our poem about funny feet, stamp our sight words (are, run) and practice spelling them every day, write upper and lower case letters, write in our journals, sing about letter sounds, make F books, continue our literacy center rotations, and more!!

Math:  We will continue learning about shapes this week!  This is a fun unit with a lot of hands-on and craft activities.  We will also count by 1s, 5s, and10s (to 100!), work with tally marks, and graph the weather.

Bible: This week we will continue the story of Joseph in Egypt and read Moses and the Princess.  We will read the Bible, sing Peace Like a River, God Is So Good, Happy All the Time, and God’s Love, recite Psalm 139:17a and 139:18a, and pray together every day. 

Science, Social Studies, Art, and Misc: This month’s themes are Thanksgiving, turkeys, and leaves.  We will also learn about the five senses this month.  In addition, we will continue to learn about keeping fit and the importance of exercise.  We will also do our team jobs, attend art class, music class, library, computer lab, and PE, explore the classroom during choice time, and more!!!

Sharing:  We have a sharing time every Friday during our afternoon meeting.

Tuesday, November 19^th: Field Trip to CYT’s Seussical the Musical!  Permission slips are due Friday, November 8^th.  I have six parent tickets.  If you would like to be a parent driver/chaperone, please sign up and I will draw six names if more than six parent sign up. If you haven’t turned in your permission slip yet, please turn it in as soon as possible.  Thanks!!

Monday, November 25^th: Chapel, 2:25 Families are welcome to join us!

Tuesday, November 26^th: Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast (Rooms Moms, you’re on again J.   I’ll send you a separate email with more details soon.  Thanks!!)

November 27-29^th: No School Happy Thanksgiving!

 

 

This Week’s Homework:

Please help your child complete a little homework each night until it is complete. 

 

The following assignments should be completed by Friday:

1.     Phonics page for the letter of the week- Ff

2.     Handwriting page for the letter of the week- Ff

3.     2-3 choices from our monthly family activity calendar.

4.     Sight word practice: I, big, we, can, in, it, like, up, a, find, see, two, not, go, to, red, have, name, is, make, play, too, are, and run.

5.     Ten minutes (or more!) of reading every night with a parent, guardian, or older sibling, etc.  I’m sure your child would love to read the book in his or her small manila folder to you!  Sight words are fun to read together, too.  Reading together every night is VERY important.  Let’s work together to develop a love of books and reading in our children!

School library books are due every Wednesday.
