Friday, April 11th:
Jog-a-Thon (our jog time is
8:45-8:55 in the gym)**
** Please
send your child to school ready to run this Friday. We would like all students to wear a plain
white shirt with Vroom, Vroom Vomvokids! written on the front. We will write a tally mark for each lap
completed on the back of their shirts with a Sharpie. They should also wear comfortable pants (or
shorts) and tennis shoes. You may pack a
change of clothes for your child to change into afterward if you’d like.
Language
Arts:
We published our Rosie’s Walk books
on Friday; they are BEAUTIFUL! We will
practice reading them to each other and our buddy class this week then send
them home for you to enjoy. Last week we
also made two class ABC books to celebrate the alphabet: Vomvokids’
Kindergarten, An ABC Book and The ABCs of Spring. This week we will start focusing on consonant
blends. This week is sh. We will recite our shark and seashell poems, read books
about sharks and sheep, make and learn to read our sh books, read, write, and
stamp our new sight words (at, must, well), write in our journals, continue our
literacy centers, and more!!
Math: This week we will work on our addition and
subtraction facts through ten. We will count
by 1s, 5s, and10s to 100, work with our number of the day (Spanish, tally
marks, addition and subtraction problems, etc.), and read various graphs.
Bible: This week
we will begin to read about and discuss Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter
Sunday. We will sing along with Wee Sing Bible Songs and Wee Sing More Bible
Songs, review Psalms 100: 1-5, and pray together every day.
Science,
Social Studies, Art, and Misc: This month’s themes are
conservation, oceans, and Easter. Later
this month (4/29) we will visit the Seymour Center at Long Marine Lab to learn
more about the animals in our bay. We
are also keeping an eye on our tadpoles, polliwogs, and chrysalis. We will continue to do our team jobs, attend
art class, music class, library, computer lab, and PE, explore the classroom
during choice time, and more!!!
We have a
sharing time every Friday.

This Week’s Homework:
The
following assignments should be completed by Friday:
1.
Addition Math Dice Game
2.
Spring Vocabulary Worksheet
3.
Write Vroom, Vroom Vomvokids! on the front of a
white t-shirt and wear it to school on Friday for our Jog-a-Thon.
4.
2-3 choices from our monthly family activity
calendar.
5.
Practice reading our sight words every night.
6.
Ten minutes (or more!) of reading every night
with a parent, guardian, or older sibling, etc.
I’m sure your child would love to read the book in his or her small
manila folder to you! Sight words are
fun to read together, too. Reading
together every night is VERY important.
Let’s work together to develop a love of books and reading in our
children!
School
library books are due every Wednesday morning.
