Here are a few examples of animal report posters I found online. These are not ocean animals, of course, but they should help you get an idea of how to use the information from your child's ocean animal research outline to help him or her design a poster to present to the class.
As noted in this week's Weekly News and Homework, the research outline is due this Friday, the poster is due next week, and the oral presentations will be Friday, May 16th. If you would like to keep the poster at home until the day of the presentations to help your child practice, that's fine, too. If you have any questions, please ask! :)

We had a great day at the Seymour Center!
We are extremely blessed to have such wonderfully supportive parents. Thank you everyone for getting your children to school early today and thank you drivers for taking such good care of our kinders on our field trip. We couldn't have done it without you!!

Language
Arts:
This week we will continue learning about consonant digraphs and word families. This week is th. We will read many books each day as a class,
in small groups, and independently, read,
write, make sight word flowers for our word wall and practice reading and
writing our new sight words (no, that, came), write in our journals, and read
and write in our small group literacy centers.
We will also write our monthly writing samples for our writing wall.
Math: This week we will continue working on subtraction
facts through ten. We will count by 1s,
5s, and10s to 100, work with our number of the day (Spanish, tally marks,
addition and subtraction problems, etc.), and create class graphs. We will also make our May calendars on
Thursday.
Bible: This week
we will read and discuss one of Jesus’ parables: The House on the Rock. We will sing Oh, How I Love Jesus, Jesus Loves Even Me, His Banner Over Me Is Love, and
Isn’t He Wonderful (which we will
sing at next week’s chapel), learn 1 Corinthians 15:3b-4, and pray
together every day.
Science,
Social Studies, Art, and Misc: This month’s themes are
conservation, oceans, and Easter. Tomorrow
(Tuesday, 4/29) we will visit the Seymour Center at Long Marine Lab to learn
more about the animals in our bay. We
are also keeping an eye on our tadpoles and polliwogs. We will continue to do our team jobs, attend
art class, music class, library, computer lab, and PE, explore the classroom
during choice time, and more!!!

Also, she is planning on having a used book sale. If you have any used books to donate, please
drop them by the office this week. Come
buy some new books, too!!

Chapel at 2:25. Adrian Moreno will be
our speaker and the Vomvokids will sing some songs. Join us!

This week we will continue learning about consonant digraphs and word families. This week is ch. We will read many books each day as a class

stamp our new sight words (white, on, went), write in our journals, continue
our literacy centers, and more!!
Math: This week we will continue working on our
addition and subtraction facts through ten.
We will count by 1s, 5s, and10s to 100, work with our number of the day
(Spanish, tally marks, addition and subtraction problems, etc.), and create
class graphs.

Weekly News and Homework
Friday, April 11th:
Jog-a-Thon (our jog time is
8:45-8:55 in the gym)**
** Please
send your child to school ready to run this Friday. We would like all students to wear a plain
white shirt with Vroom, Vroom Vomvokids! written on the front. We will write a tally mark for each lap
completed on the back of their shirts with a Sharpie. They should also wear comfortable pants (or
shorts) and tennis shoes. You may pack a
change of clothes for your child to change into afterward if you’d like.
Language
Arts:
We published our Rosie’s Walk books
on Friday; they are BEAUTIFUL! We will
practice reading them to each other and our buddy class this week then send
them home for you to enjoy. Last week we
also made two class ABC books to celebrate the alphabet: Vomvokids’
Kindergarten, An ABC Book and The ABCs of Spring. This week we will start focusing on consonant
blends. This week is sh. We will recite our shark and seashell poems, read books
about sharks and sheep, make and learn to read our sh books, read, write, and
stamp our new sight words (at, must, well), write in our journals, continue our
literacy centers, and more!!
Math: This week we will work on our addition and

Minimum Day Next Wednesday, April 9th
Mrs. Imel sent an email about this earlier in the week, but I just wanted to make sure you all know ahead of time that school will be out at noon next Wednesday. The accreditation team will be ready to read their report in the early afternoon and it is imperative that all staff attend the reading. Crosswalk will be free from 12-3. Thank you!!

Reminders
1. Our Kindergarten Speech Meet is tomorrow at 1:30 in the Auditorium. Our rehearsal today went really well! Please help your child practice a few more times tonight (smile, introduce yourself, say verse/poem, hands at your sides, etc). Thanks!
2. The Family Roots project is due on or before Friday. It was sent home last Thursday. A couple projects have been turned in already if you would like to some examples. They are BEAUTIFUL!

Spring is here!!
Today we had the chance to observe and hold live ducklings!! Also, our tadpoles are starting to grow legs, and we think our chrysalis will become a butterfly any day now!
