Here is a
small taste of what we’ll do this week:
Language
Arts:
We will learn about and practice writing X words, sing songs, read many books, stamp
our sight words (look, yellow, four) and practice spelling them every day, write
upper and lower case letters, write in our journals, sing about letter sounds, make
and learn to read X books, continue our literacy center rotations, and more!!
Math: Last week most of our math lessons consisted of
adding, subtracting, sorting, and graphing sweethearts. This week we will continue our unit on TIME
and MONEY. We will also count by 1s, 5s,
and10s (to 100!), work with our number of the day (Spanish, tally marks,
addition and subtraction problems, etc.), and graph the weather. We will also continue working on addition and
subtraction facts.
Bible: This week
we will learn about Jonah and the Great Fish.
We will read the Bible, sing along with Wee Sing Bible Songs and Wee Sing More Bible Songs, recite,
illustrate, and discuss Luke 2:12, and pray together
every day.
Science,
Social Studies, Art, and Misc: This month’s themes are Valentine’s
Day, Community, and Presidents. We will
also continue our Physical Science unit with plenty of hands-on activities
(matter, movement, magnets, sink or float, fun!!). We will continue to do our team jobs, attend
art class, music class, library, computer lab, and PE, explore the classroom
during choice time, and more!!!
Sharing: We have a
sharing time every Friday during our afternoon meeting.

2-3 choices from our monthly family activity
calendar.
4.
Sight word practice!
5.
Ten minutes (or more!) of reading every night
with a parent, guardian, or older sibling, etc.
I’m sure your child would love to read the book in his or her small
manila folder to you! Sight words are
fun to read together, too. Reading
together every night is VERY important.
Let’s work together to develop a love of books and reading in our
children!
School
library books are due every Wednesday morning.
