WELCOME
BACK! I hope you all had a great break!! I had a wonderful Christmas with my family and
an exciting trip to France with my sister and two best friends. I can’t wait to tell the Vomvokids all about
it and hear about their adventures as well!
Here is a
small taste of what we’ll do this week:
Language
Arts:
We will learn about and practice writing B words, sing songs, read many books, recite
our bear poem, stamp our sight words (what, help) and practice spelling them
every day, write upper and lower case letters, write in our journals, sing
about letter sounds, make and learn to read B books, continue our literacy
center rotations, and more!!
Math: We will continue our unit on Numbers through
10. We will also count by 1s, 5s, and10s
(to 100!), work with our number of the day (Spanish, tally marks, addition and
subtraction problems, etc), and graph the weather.
Bible: This week
we will learn about Joshua and Jerico. We
will read the Bible, sing along with Wee
Sing Bible Songs and Wee Sing More Bible Songs, recite, discuss, and
illustrate Proverbs 16:32 (better a patient person than a
warrior,
one with self-control than one who takes a city), and pray together every day.

3.
2-3 choices from our monthly family activity

Sight word practice! (See words listed below) FYI- starting next
week we will learn 3 new sight words every week.
5.
Ten minutes (or more!) of reading every night
with a parent, guardian, or older sibling, etc.
I’m sure your child would love to read the book in his or her small
manila folder to you! Sight words are
fun to read together, too. Reading
together every night is VERY important.
Let’s work together to develop a love of books and reading in our
children!
School
library books are due every Wednesday morning.
Sight
Word Practice:
Please
continue practicing these words with your child until he or she can read them fluently.
